Saudi Arabia’s ambitious Vision 2030 is driving a cultural renaissance, investing in tourism, technology, and sustainability to reshape the Kingdom’s identity. Integral to this transformation is the Mujassam Watan Urban Sculpture Challenge, organized by Buildner in partnership with the Mujassam Watan Initiative of the Al Fozan Social Foundation. This competition invites architects and artists worldwide to contribute to the Kingdom’s evolving public spaces through innovative sculptural designs.

Competition Overview

In its 7th edition, the Mujassam Watan challenge seeks visionary urban sculptures that reflect Saudi Arabia’s rich heritage and progressive aspirations. The 2025 theme, “The Inspiration Around You,” encourages participants to draw inspiration from their surroundings, creating works that inspire and connect, seamlessly integrating art with urban life.

Designated Sites

Participants can choose between two distinct sites for their designs:

  1. Abu Hadriyah Road: A vital transportation corridor linking Saudi Arabia with the UAE and Kuwait, symbolizing movement and progress. This high-profile site offers an opportunity to create a landmark sculpture that embodies connectivity and regional significance.
  2. Tharwa Sea Front: Located in Al-Khobar’s Tharwa District, this vibrant coastal promenade merges urban life with the natural beauty of the Arabian Gulf. Sculptures here will enhance community engagement and cultural identity, interacting harmoniously with the coastal environment.

Prizes and Realization

The competition boasts a total prize fund of €50,000, equally divided between the two sites. Each site will award:ArchDaily
